The goal | Student should be informed on the basic principles and elements of the epizootical work in order to properly define epizootical studies, to follow distribution and monitor during research work on infectious diseases of animals. Student should acquire knowledge on how to work and analyze epizootical data and to define epizootical measures to control and eradicate infectious diseases of animals. | |||
The outcome | To define basic epizootical determinants in order to follow parameters that are important for epizootia occurrence, distribution, control and eradication, analysis of the data, defining spatial and temporal epizootias as well as enzootias distribution, define basic principles of the contingency planning, basic principles diagnostic test results analysis, defining interrelationship between events in epizootiology, formulation of the epizootical models and health schemes as well as risk analysis, control and protection from epizootias and general principles of protection from bioterrorism. | |||
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Basic elements and epizootical methods, influence of epizootias and enzootias on productivity and animal health. Epizootical terms, basic principles of infectious disease characterization. Morbidity, mortality, lethality, prevalence, incidence, temporal and spatial disease distribution. Microorganism: virulence, pathogenicity, dissemination in the body. The way how microorganism influences animal functions. Animal susceptibility and resistance, general principles of the immunity to particular disease, immune system during infection, immunopathogenesis, port of entrance. Environment. Basic principles of the epizootical work, measures, control strategy of the infectious diseases of animals, monitoring and surveillance, spot and propagative epizootias, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis. | |||
Contents of exercises | Students in the epizootiological laboratory learns methods of collecting and presenting epizootiological data and processes different methods of data azalysis. | |||
