The goal | To enable students to acquire basic comparative theoretical knowledge in hematology, to introduce to students techniques used in veterinary diagnostics, to enable comprehensive knowledge about specific hematological changes in light of systemic disorders of animals. | |||

Contents of lectures | Components of blood plasma, their origin, half-life, concentration and function; disorders од пласма цомпонентс and laboratory techniques for diagnosis of disorders. Number of red blood cells, their morphological, biochemical, metabolic and physiological characteristics; Anemia. Polycythemia. Laboratory techniques used to assess disorders of erythropoietic lineage. Granulocyte (neutrophil, basophil ,eosinophil) their morphological, biochemical, metabolic and physiological characteristics; disorders of mielopoiesis.Laboratory techniques used in the examination of leukocytes. Platelet count, their morphological , biochemical, metabolic and physiological characteristics; disorders of thrombopoiesis. Laboratory techniques used for the test platelet function. Regulation of hematopoiesis. Blood stem cells and their disorders. Disorders of coagulation factors. Anticoagulants. Laboratory techniques for the determination of bleeding time, clotting time and prothrombin time. | |||
